We took one more trip out to our local lake just to make sure we had our shit together with my new truck before heading out on our first “big” adventure.
A month later, and we’re off! Where are we headed??? To the beach. Doesn’t matter which one, just a beach. We hit the road headed for Gulf Shores, Alabama. Everyone says the beach is amazing down there! Plan was to drive 3-4 per day tootin’ along to get there. Most RV parks have availability for one night, so our driving time would just going to go off how we felt that morning.
First stop…Hot Springs, Arkansas. We just moved from AR and I “knew” the roads, so that was a great day one. We chose to leave Lucy with grandma and grandpa and only take Frank. He travels better and she hates it lol. Anyways, we found a spot at Treasure Isle RV Park. It was chill, quiet, had a small lake, and pull through spots…because lord knows I don’t know how to back up this giant ass trailer yet.
So, here’s the funny part for our day one, first big trip out…I LOVE weather. I’m a complete weather nerd. Watching the weather before we left, there’s a hurricane headed to the gulf. Aaron’s thought, let’s just get on the road and see where it goes. Maybe it’ll turn and head towards FL. Y’all, watching the weather…it was not turning!!! The hurricane was not headed to Florida. It was headed straight for Alabama lol. Can not make this shit up.
So here we are in AR, hurricane headed to where we are headed. Do we continue forward and risk having to ride a hurricane out on our first trip OR do we pivot and find somewhere else to go?
